News and Events

Participating in animal community events offers the opportunity to showcase greyhounds – to provide an up close and personal experience with the breed. It also provides an opportunity to fundraise.  We provide information and education on the life of hardship many of them have experienced on the tracks, and to inform potential foster and adoption parents about their unique care needs, as they have never lived in a family setting. They need knowledgeable veterinarian care, high quality food to settle their sensitive digestive systems probably due to their life experience (grain free kibble or raw diet), lots of TLC and patience as they adjust to a home setting. They love to run but are not a high energy breed. They are sprinters who truly prefer a couch – 45 mph couch potatoes.

In spite of the impact of their difficult life experiences, greyhounds make loving, loyal, as well as handsome family pets.

Volunteers are always needed to help out at these events – please contact renee_cotton@rogers.com if you are interested in helping greyhounds.

Donations are welcome and accepted at these events, or at any time.

The book “Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummies” by Lee Livingood is recommended reading.
