HELPING HOMELESS PETS – www.helpinghomelesspets.com

We are pleased to be part of Helping Homeless Pets, a local umbrella group of 49 rescue groups as of
November 2011, and to provide assistance where we can to help many pets find their forever homes.

GREY2KUSA – www.grey2kusa.org/action/other.html

GREY2KUSA was formed in March 2001. It is a national non-profit organization dedicated to passing stronger greyhound protection laws and ending the cruelty of dog racing e.g. greyhounds live a life of nearly endless confinement, race in extreme weather conditions, are given performance enhancing drugs, are transported in a dangerous manner, are fed 4D meat, suffer serious injuries, and are sometimes killed on the track, as well as when they are no longer profitable (5000 reportedly killed in 2003). There are 1000 greyhounds at each racetrack. Since the formation of GREY2KUSA, 26 dog tracks have closed for live racing across the US. As of November 2011, there are 22 operational tracks in 7 states.

On an international level, GREY2KUSA supports the work of other advocates across the globe.

Greyhound racing is cruel and inhumane and should be phased out. Like all dogs, they deserve to be protected. Please support the activities of GREY2KUSA.

GALGOS GREYHOUNDS – www.scoobymedina.org

The Galgos, Spanish Greyhounds, are used mainly for hunting, and treated in a cruel manner during their lives. When the season is over, they are discarded. It is estimated that 30,000 are killed inhumanly every year. Scooby Medina in Spain has been rescuing galgos since 1997. Over the past few years the Galloping Greyhounds Play Group has “virtually adopted” 3 galgos who are ill and unadoptable – Santos (died in 2011), Miratu and Coria.

Miratu

Miratu is becoming an old girl and unfortunately she is developing a neurological problem which does not hurt her but makes her run in a strange way from time to time. But, she is still very happy and affectionate. Read more about Miratu.

Coria

Coria is still improving regarding his trust in humans. he gets along perfectly with other dogs in his pack and it looks like the time he spent in his bad past is slowly fading away. Read more about Coria.

Please help support Scooby Medina in their work to rescue and place galgos greyhounds on adoption/in loving homes. Funds are very short – as  of November 2011 they only have enough funds to get them through the first quarter of 2012.
